Ah, Advocate, I appreciate the humor captured here. And I rather agree with the sentiment. I don't think that it's the soldiers, by and large, that actually are afraid of homosexuals. I think it far more likely that it is the outdated rule of the upper echelon, fueled by the paranoia of the Puritanical mindset so often expressed by our country. I am not absurd enough to think that our men and women in the military would actually be brought down by the knowledge that someone with homosexual tendencies (or even pure, unadulterated homosexuality) was serving beside them. And, as such, I think it is utterly absurd to have a rule on the books implying such a thing. In fact, it is insulting to the highest degree. We ask them to risk life and limb for ourselves and our country...and then we imply that they can't survive variety in the troops with whom they serve? What a disservice to our military, indeed.
